In 2025, the Alcover Town Council wanted to commemorate its history by recovering the altarpiece of the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, a monument of the municipality protected as a cultural asset of local interest. The altarpiece was created in 1630 and disappeared in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War.
Only old black-and-white photographs were preserved of that work; there were no records, plans, or detailed memories of its elements.
The goal was ambitious: to reconstruct the past and bring it back to life so that the town of Alcover could rediscover a forgotten part of its heritage.
