The need

In 2025, the Alcover Town Council wanted to commemorate its history by recovering the altarpiece of the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, a monument of the municipality protected as a cultural asset of local interest. The altarpiece was created in 1630 and disappeared in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War.

Only old black-and-white photographs were preserved of that work; there were no records, plans, or detailed memories of its elements.

The goal was ambitious: to reconstruct the past and bring it back to life so that the town of Alcover could rediscover a forgotten part of its heritage.

Audiovisual Mapping

Artificial Intelligence

However, we faced a major challenge: the original image, although of good quality, presented details and elements that barely exceeded 200 px in resolution. To be able to work with precision, we resorted to artificial intelligence and advanced rescaling models that allowed us to enlarge the image to optimal quality.

Through specific prompts and an iterative process with different AI models, we managed to speed up the workflow and obtain a solid foundation on which to build the reconstruction.

3D Modeling

Once we had obtained all the elements with the necessary quality, we began the reconstruction in a 3D environment, starting from an initial blocking to adjust proportions, perspectives, and dimensions until we achieved a structure faithful to the original photograph.

Final scene

Artificial intelligence was once again key in this phase.

To recreate sculptures and ornaments with a high level of detail and realism, we relied on generative models that allowed us to optimize time without sacrificing quality. What would have traditionally required weeks of manual modeling was solved in a fraction of the time, maintaining a highly precise finish.

The result was a completely reconstructed altarpiece in 3D, ready to come to life.

Projection

With the animation completed, it was time to take the project to its real setting: the church of Alcover. We prepared the space, adjusted the mapping, and calibrated every technical detail to ensure an impeccable projection.

We also created an audiovisual piece to promote the event on social media. In this phase, we also used AI to generate impactful shots that would have been very complex to produce physically.

Result

A project that allowed us not only to reconstruct a historical work but also to return it to the collective memory of the town. A success that we feel deeply proud to have been a part of.
